Samuel Rain

I've been re-reading the entire series from the beginning and i've just gotten to the part in BbF where we briefly hear about the lone survivor of the mind f***.

Is it just me or did anyone else want to read more about this guy? His fortitude and determination not to harm others in the face of Tatiana's compulsion was heartwarming. I want to know if he lives and if he can recover from the brutality of the attack.

And, if he does i think he deserves to be 'saved' from Silence and given a chance to meet a nice changeling or strong, yet nurturing human.

Did he survive? As more than a vegetable or at all. I can't remember.

Unfortunately I've lent out my books so can't go back to confirm, but as i recall the Dr. who was talking to Anthony(?) indicated that the compulsion was removed but his brain was severely damaged (leaking out of his ears, according to the changeling that found him).

It was also mentioned that he was a scientist in a field that made me think of Ashaya's specialty, but I can't remember which.

I'm not sure now if he was a victim of Tatiana or Henry Scott. As events are unveiled I begin to suspect Henry more, and that would mean that Samuel was on the verge of breaking Silence since that is who Henry targets. That makes his recovery even more interesting, I think.

As to healing from this? The kids, of course.

Of course, Samuel might just be a sad victim of this war and I'm investing way too much time on him. But maybe not.

He is very interesting, very strong and brave and I would like to hear more from him.

He was a casualty of Tatiana, and I also suspect that Henry is her patsy too...If you remember from StS when Sascha hacked the net, she was attached to Henry and it was noted specifically that he has weak shields, and in MtP Henry was noted to have some minor brain damage due to the removal of the chip, put those two together with what Tatiana did in BbF and she is playing him like Beehtoven plays a piano!! He had never shown any signs of sociopathic tendencies until after the chip was removed and Pure Psy started...which he DIDN'T start, he was approached and then joined...which leads to us now seeing him as a megalomaniac with delusions of grandure today! It is going to be interesting to see just how far he is pushed before the selfdestruction begins...

that makes Tatiana an even greater threat then previously supposed. <shudder>

Totally agree! I think Tatiana manages to turn people into megalomaniacs so that they are that much more malliable to her suggestions.
