Web of Stars

I just wanted to be sure that I understood how the Web works correctly. The idea is that it serves as a psychic net, providing the Psy with the feedback they need and is based off of familial and blood bonds, all of which center on Lucas' blood bond with his sentinels. Does this mean that if something should happen to Lucas that the whole system will collapse, dooming all of the Psy attached to it?

That's a good question. I think that if Lucas were to die slowly, say from a sickness, then there would be time to hand over the Alpha power to Vaughn and have them do the blood oath thing. If he were to die abruptly, then I think the web would adapt to Vaughn at least temporarily, since Lucas and I'm sure everyone else knows he's second in command. They would probably still need to complete the blood oath with Vaughn, but I doubt the web would break down automatically if Lucas died. Anyways, Lucas is too awesome to die any time soon

But that would only build the bonds, the "Web of Stars" would still die...Sascha is why the web of stars exist, and she is linked through Lucas, if he goes so does she...

I disagree, Sasha might only be mated to Lucas, but the ties that bind them would be too superficial if all it takes is one death to destroy it. Plus, I don't think Sasha is why the web exists, she is just how they know that they formed a web when they made their oaths.

I wasn't saying that the web would die, what I was saying was the stars would die...All the colors of the web are made from Sascha, which is why it is called the web of stars to begin with. If Lucas was to die, then the colors would disappear from the web. Sascha is connected strictly through Lucas, in order for the colors to stay she would have to bond with another member of the web...and I DON'T see that happening.

I had to reread to make sure, but... In the PsyNet, the stars are white, with the empaths hidden so they look white. When Sascha joined the Web of Stars, hers could be finally be the rainbow color it was supposed to be, & it gives off showers of rainbow sparkles, which "infect" the Web with emotion & color & healing. (Although she says something about Vaungh's star being golden--which she thinks is because he's a jaguar.)

At some point (in BbF maybe), Sascha is talking to Toby about his being an empath & asks him about the "rainbows" in the Lauren Net, which are there because his empath power started to develop after the Lauren Net was created. I think those are like the sparkles Sascha's star gives off. If something should happen to Sascha, couldn't Keenan (or even Faith or another Psy) maybe develop that necessary empath power like Toby did? Toby didn't have it until the Lauren Net needed it. I think the "rainbows" are necessary, but Sascha wouldn't necessarily have to provide them. Just a thought (& of course nothing *will* happen to Lucas or Sascha!)

If I remember correctly, Toby didn't develop this power out of necessity. He always had it, but his conditioning had stopped it's development. Once he was out of the Psy net and allowed to feel again his dormant powers that he always had woke up.

I absolutely love the scene from BbF (I think) when Sascha talks to Toby about Sienna and he says that he has done all that he can to help, but she figures out what he is doing and blocks him...he is sooo upset that she won't let him help...it reminds me of Sascha and Dorian from StS, and VoH.

I think the kid of Sascha and Lucas will have some empathic power so if something happens to Sascha there will be the sparks.
