Something I've been wondering (Henry Scott)
After reading Hostage to Pleasure I found myself wondering: Has Henry Scott become a sociopath or merely a megalomaniac.

Oh sorry...I just finished reading it so of course I think everybody knows the book as well as I do.
Henry Scott is a member of the Counsel and husband of Shoshanna (also a Counsel member). Up until the last book he was pretty quiet and generally supported his wife in her ambitions without showing any of his own. In the last book he totally changed. Now he seems to think he's Mr. Perfectly Silent Man and everybody else is inferior.

Ahh, yes I remember him now. I did wonder if the Silence and playing submissive to his wife had finally gotten the better of him.

That's pretty much what he said, but at the beginning of the book Kaleb noticed that his gaze seemed to be off and at the end Shoshanna remarked that he was favoring one side.

I've always found Henry Scott interesting. For a while, I thought he was going to be the Ghost, just because he's constantly overlooked by everyone else. But now, I think that the chip thing that he and his wife had implanted in their brains is responsible for his new "alpha" tendencies. I know they had them removed but they had it in long enough for it to have caused some kind of change to their personalities. It may just have allowed formerly suppressed personality traits to become dominant and corroded pre-existing barriers.

That actually makes perfect sense to me.

I like this idea. It might be possible that implant (or the surgery for the device) is causing physical corrosion in a Phineas Gage-like manner.

I don't think he's become a sociopath...actually, these new dominant tendancies seem emotion-driven (resentment for being in his wife's shadow).
Megalomaniac.
Megalomaniac.

I am thinking that the damage done to his brain after the surgery could have made a weakness that the Dark Mind has taken advantage of and is using to form the emotions that is driving Henry's actions.

It seems to me that since the chip was faulty, the "alpha" waves from Shoshanna's personality (the dominant one)were imprinted in Henry's brain.
Remember she was the one who put out the unauthorized hit on Faith and she was the one who wanted to be the "queen bee" in the hive mind once Protocol I was in place.
Now Henry thinks he's the "king bee" with Pure Psy and put an unauthorized hit on Ashaya.
So...megalomaniac not sociopath for me.
