Of all the books you've read who was the meanest, craziest, cruelest, character in there.

Re: 10 Baddest Villians
I'll have to think on this for a bit. A lot of books and series have villains for a time that are then vanquished and you get a new one. For example, Cat & Bones just keep fighting the lastest big bad in the Night Huntress series. I don't read a ton of Urban Fantasy where the continuing storylines might provide a continuing villain character. However, a few that come to mind, not in any particular order:
1. Ming le Bon
2. Henry Scott
3. Lash from the BDB series. I've become disenchanted with the series but Lash was a pretty nasty piece of work though he was defeated a book or two ago. The main villain (the Omega) is kind of a cartoon villain to me.
4. Lothaire! Who is getting his own book from Kresley Cole out next week so let's see how see turns him into a Hero.
5. Dr. Peter Whitney from Feehan's Ghostwalker series is uber-evil in a crazy, manipulative scary scientist way.
6. From Shannon Butcher's Sentinel Wars series, the Synestryn leader Zillah.
7. Xavier from Christine Feehan's Dark series is incredibly evil and cruel, but it took forever before he was revealed as being behind the troubles of the Carpathians so he hadn't been an on-going presence.
8. Ruth and Nicodemus from Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalker series.
9. Lijuan from the Guild Hunter series
10. Lilith from Nora Roberts Circle Trilogy

Re: 10 Baddest Villians
No rating by order intended, i just had to start somewhere..
a) Imperator Palpatine (yeah sry, i'm a SW-kid )
b) the VISE-council (a group of pretty powerful psyker trying to obliterate any weak or nonpsyker to "renew" the earth and populate it with pure psykers [Manga:Psyren])
c) Alucard (from Hellsing, while he is not really THE villian in the story, he himself beeing and acting like what he is, is simply cool [Manga:Hellsing])
d) the four Chaosgods of the Warhammer40K-universe.(I count them as one because they are just different aspects of the whole chaos realm.[Roleplay Universe])
e) Agent Smith (yeah, sry for the matrix-haters, i agree, II and III were bullshit, but still, Smith is cool, because his motivs are.. kind of.. understandble)
f) Gabriel Shear from Password:Swordfish (psycho.. simple as that)
g) the Elder God and Moebius the timestreamer from "the Legacy of Kain" [complete PC-game-series] (Moebis is kind of the Gods puppet, but they're both pretty manipulative guys..)
..thats what i could think of, just out of the blue.. i might extend this list when im back at my book-storage Currently im away for internship..

Re: 10 Baddest Villians
Hrm...let's see.
1. Hojo of Final Fantasy VII. (Every single horror story of mad scientists you have ever heard of in one small, slimy package. Everything bad that happens in FFVII is Hojo's fault.)
2. Grand Admiral Thrawn of Star Wars. (Could scheme on par with any of the archangels of the Guild Hunter series. The same with strategy. Good thing he's mortal...)
3. Nicodemus of The Dresden Files. (A man so evil that he has a partnership with his Fallen Angel. Also been alive for the past two thousand years, and he and his wife are responsible for the Black Plague that killed a third of Europe's population.)
4. Caius of Final Fantasy XIII-2. (Sephiroth almost destroyed the world. Caius succeeded. 'Nough said.)
5. Algaliarept in the early books of The Hollows series. (A shape shifting demon that will not die no matter what you throw at him. And he always takes the form that will scare you the most. Just because he can.)
6. Lijuan and Uram of the Guild Hunter series. (I can't figure out which one is worse. Uram will kill you, but not before you're begging for death. With Lijuan, it won't end with death...on second thought, yeah, it's Lijuan.)
7. Mathias Cronqvist / Dracula of the Castlevania series. (Once upon a time, he was a good and pious man who loved his wife and was best friends with one of the best fighters of the land. Then his wife died. Good bye Mathias, hello Dracula, enemy of humanity.)
8. Ghirahim of Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. (For a series that's been fairly kid friendly for the past few years, Ghirahim is quite disturbing. Complete psychopath, and there's a strong implication that it isn't just death and torture that he wishes upon Link...)
9. Sicks of Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. (Not a very well known series, but damn if it didn't have one of the freakiest villains I've ever read about. This guy is what happens when you try to breed a human for evil intent. He's not even the same species as we are he's so freaky.)
10. Xellos Metellium of Slayers. (He doesn't act evil most of the time, but when he finally betrays you [and make no mistake, he always does], expect it to be at the most inopportune moment for you. Never mind the fact that he's probably the fifth most powerful demon of his planet, if not even stronger.)

Caius is my avatar! You know I was actually going to say I thought Sephiroth was an awesome villain but you're right, Hojo trumps him. I don't know what it is but I always tend to root for the hot, Final Fantasy bad guys.

Re: 10 Baddest Villians
When I saw your avatar, I kinda squinted at it for a minute, going "I know that from somewhere...wait a minute...oh no! Not him!" He kinda ruined FFXIII-2 for me...I don't like my characters dying.
I also thought about Sephiroth for a moment, then realized that Sephiroth was only a result, not a cause. The causes are Jenova and Hojo. If it weren't for those two, who knows what would've happened. The FFVII world would be a very different place. (Maybe Zack would have lived... )
