Re: Off-Topic
The off-topic topic... I like saying that, it sounds funny.
About visiting Berlin: I really like to, I just have to see how this works out with my other plans (earning money). I just checked the anticipating- for -2011 book list on goodreads...I really need to donate plasma more often...

Re: Off-Topic
Mhe, I'm not allowed to. They say my blood is too fucked up to help anyone xD Guess it's all the meds I have to keep swallowing.. :<
Don't you start with money, I wanted to spent like one-two weeks in Berlin last year and couldn't afford it. If it doesn't work out this year I'm gonna kill someone. xD Where did all the money go? I neeeeeed some. *prays* Gosh. You saw that KoS-ARC on ebay? They pay like 200 $ or more for those ARCs.. If I didn't love mine so much I'd go for it. No. Actually not even then. xD
I finally get why people download music, books and movies. I'm not into that stuff, but seriously.. When I looked for a website that sells ebooks I found at least 4 websites that got the book I was looking for uploaded already. And said book had only been released for like 4 hours!
As for the wishlist-books. Jeez, I'm already considering going pro. And I'm not talking about football or soccer here. ;p

Re: Off-Topic
Poor Patricia
I always nearly faint while donating plasma because of my low blood pressure ( and because I can't stand looking at my blood getting sucked in a machine...it's just creepy)
No, I didn't saw it, but it doesn't surprise me. I wouldn't do that either, especially not with this ARC. It's the first one I ever got.
At my job, I can work more during the summer holidays, so I can save some "book money". At least a weekend I think I can afford. I just don't know yet when I'm free.
Re: Off-Topic
Yes, I'm such a poor girl. Pity me! Buy me books because I'm um.. yeah, well whatever xD
Really? I love it. My mom thinks it's creepy too xD I think I've never fainted, though i have a BP of 80-70 to 50 most of the times. Love that feeling. Getting sucked in a machine? I've never been to blood donation.. My doctor just said that I don't need to try.. I don't even know my bloodtype xD
My first too. Or at least my first printed one. I got two ebooks for review already and two printed books are being shipped right now (thanks Goodreads and Librarything! *_*)
What just popped into my mind (because I read BoJ): What about this guy.. Ryan? Andrej.. I can't recall his name. He's psy, working for Nikita I think and he crashed into that woman, payed for everything, makes sure her house is fine blablabla. You think we're reading something about him? I think, since he's Psy and into the Nikita-stuff he'd deserve a book, not a Novella..
Another thought:
Psy are supercool but get insane because of it.
Humans are not supercool and not insane.
Changelings are supercool and not insane.
That's unfair. I really want to see the downside. Yes, they have their problems about their temper, but it's nothing like the Psy have. Still they're stronger, have those uber-shields, can shift. They are in a thousand ways stronger than humans. Just like the Psy are. But unlike the Psy there is simply no fucking downside. >_< *makes helpless moves with her hands* xD

Re: Off-Topic
Andre Toulane was his name, the girl's name Amberleigh Bouvier. I also would like to read about him. And Samuel Rain. He was the guy who tried to throw himself off a cliff because he was fighting the programmed compulsion to shoot some human artists. The wolves saved him =they infomend Anthony and he got a Tk to teleport him to a hospital. Maybe that was Vasic?
I asked Nalini in her last Q&A about Samuel Rain and she said she plans to write about him in the 2nd arc.
But the humans have the freedom to do whatever they want. Changelings have strict rules about territories, so they can't move around as they wish. And they can go rouge with no coming back. Psy need to be hooked up in a Net and they go insane more easily. The humans might be the weakest of the three races, but they have more freedom.

Re: Off-Topic
I think they are stronger than the Psy considering that they all go nuts.. No.. what I mean is: If the power is in synch, if every up has a down, it works for me. This is why Psy and Humans are on the same level somehow. But Changelings? They're stronger than that. And Freedom, well no, it has nothing to do with their personalities.. Of course they have to stay in there terretory or contact the other Alphas/Wingleaders/whatever-ers, but that's not lessening their personalities, their abilities etc. Not as directly as insanity does, for that.
Right! Andre and Amberleigh. Ah, Samual, I remember. Want to read about him, too. Second arc starts, I guess we'll se lots of Psy action since Silence is falling. Yay! <3

I hope so. There are so many interesting Psy characters I want know more about. I also want to know mora about the councilmembers, especially Tatiana Rika-Smythe. Not much is known about her at this stage.
Kaleb's assistant, Silver Mercant, is also very intersting with her spy family. I always thought that the information merchant could be a member of her family. So many things to explore here

Is there a difference between donating plasma and donating blood? Just a wayward thought...
For an off-topic topic, you get to the topic of P-Ch series a lot
We have a beautiful summer here in the south of Europe. 20 degrees Celsius - it is practically summer. I went to college today wearing only a sweater, no jacket, no scarf, no umbrella. I want nothing else but sit in the sun all day, I don`t even need to have a book, but KoS would be a nice touch We have a verb gušterisati that would probably translate to English as `to act lizard` meaning `enjoying the sun after wintertime`.
I`m reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen again, this time for one of my classes. It is funny to see how similar human bahaviour is, no matter where or when it happens, even if it is in an alternate universe.
Talk to you some other time.

Soo. LOVER UNLEASHED.
Someone else there who agrees? If not, what didn't you like and what did you like? What's your rating?
- Spoiler:
- I notices lots of people didn't really like it and I can't really agree. I rate books different, I guess. The more I feel (sadness, grief, anger) the better it is. And LU, well. V's and Marys story was full of that. The part about Butch.. Well, the whole plot was 'uncomfortable', but it was good. It made me understand V and Mary more than before (and I love them). Frankly, I liked that part more than the romance between Payne and Manny, though that was okay, too. I think it was something 'new' since he didn't want to become a Vampire plus because he was no Brother, no Vampire, nothing we've read about till now at all. He was a human, period.
What really made my heart ache was the vision Quinn had. I am uncomfortable about reading sexual content, probably even more when it is between two males (till now it was no big prob in the series, but it wasn't thaat graphic, so.. huh). It's not because I'm a prude - Hell, I consider myself bisexuell, just because Freud said every human is - but because it's too intimate and reminds me of things.. Whatever. So, actually I didn't really want to read about Quinn and Blay being together. But them NOT being together is .. not right. I really think they should get their chance. If not it's like a new V and Butch.. Well not quite, but it's too similiar not to say it. I want some gay Brothers, fuck the what. And then, if that doesn't work out, okay. I mean, it might break my heart, but at least they'd have tried... Except I can't imagine why they wouldn't be 2gether 4 evaa.
Also, I missed the others. I know, there was not much time for them. I didn't even miss John. But I'd like to have read about how the relationship between him and Xhex works.. (Btw, I couldn't read HIS story comfortable, either. It was too .. mhe, dunno. It reminds me of things, too. As well as Zsadists, though I loved him. Actually the whole fucking Black Dagger Brotherhood series reminds me of "things" xD Jeez, why do I keep reading this stuff?) I think the plot was good. It foreshadowed what is to come, the Scribe Virgin (she's not even a Virgin, goddamnit! >_<) and Omega didn't play that big a part, plus finally there were some 'normal' threads. (What was his name? The bastards and the not-son of the Bloodletter.. whatever).
The story was .. well, not really new, but new enough for me to read it damn fast.
And I really had to laugh as the bastards had sex with the whore. xD What was that about? What, Ward couldn't write that sex-scene for Manny and Payne, therefor took someone else? xDD Amazing, really. I couldn't stop laughing while I read that part (but frankly, I thought they wanted to kill Kandy in the end. That they did not was.. nice. I thought they were coldhearted bastards, but they gave her the stupid money, fucked her senseless and didn't harm her. As I said: Nice.)
OH! Almost forgotten: What the fuck was the whole police-thing about? I really want to know what happens next to mister 'I'm the son of a psycho, but please don't judge me, even if I go all crazy because someone made a friggin photo.' plus Butchs former partner.. Huh.
Someone else there who agrees? If not, what didn't you like and what did you like? What's your rating?
Re: Off-Topic
Well it's off-topic as in: There was no topic that the things we wanted to talk about fit in and we didn't want to make a new one, when we already knew that everything we talked about was going to lead to the next thing and the next.. blabla, you see?
20°C? Well, I'm sitting on my balcony, getting extra-crispy because of the temperature (a fucking 27°C)
Pride and Prejudice.. <3 Mr. Darcy. *_*
Just finished Archangels Consort. Twas good.- BUT I WANT DIMITRI AND ILLIUM!! NOW!! *freaky eyes*

Re: Off-Topic
Shoot, I have no clue where that "spoiler" thing is....Oh well, I don't think there's anything major below:
Lover Unleashed Reaction:
I thought it was more of "V & Jane, Part II" than "Manny & Payne." Actually, that's probably a good thing since I thought Manny & Payne lacked some serious chemistry. I liked that there was a strong focus on V, but at the same time, I thought the actual plot was very lacking & not that engaging. I started skimming it after awhile. She never really seemed to give Manny & Payne that much of a chance/page time. The best part of the book was Qhuinn and Blay for me, as anything with them is always very emotional. I wish they were in it even more, although I think they'll get their own book/novella eventually. I never thought I'd be into M&M and never read that genre (don't normally relate to it), but their story is so emotional that I don't care & want them to have a HEA together. They have become my favorite part of the series recently & I'll only continue it to find out more about them & see their storyline finished. I think Ward has now become "don't buy, check out at library instead" for me.

Re: Off-Topic
The spoiler-thing: You need those []. Write 'spoiler' and '/spoiler' inside, bam, there you go.
- Spoiler:
- Agree with you. Still I liked the book, although the parts I liked were the Vishous/Mary/Blay/Quinn-chapters. Huh, I didn't really dislike Xcor, but he was annoying sometimes AND I didn't really get why he wouldn't kill Payne just because his father wasn't his biological one. Or well, I get why he doesn't kill her, but it was too fast. The scene was so .. rushed.
Re: Off-Topic
When you donate plasma, they seperate it from your blood and put the rest back, so your "blood" loss is minimal. They need plasma for some medications against cancer and other diseases but they can also use it when they don't have enough blood stored in hospitals. I think it's a good way to get some extra money and you can also help people.
I'm also enjoying the springy weather on my balcony right now. I already planted some herbs and this year I'll try my luck with some tomatoes...
I'm looking forward to Dimitri's book. Raphael was always a little "too much" for my taste.
Pride and Prejudice is just awesome. I like reading Austen's books. Good idea, I should re-read them.

Re: Off-Topic
Thank goodness there are other people who didn't like Lover Unleashed! The book felt so forced to me, like she didn't really care when she wrote it... I mean Payne and Manny were blah: Payne is just Cormia with a martial streak and Manny is just a watered down Butch.
I've got a question for those of you who've followed the series, too - do the inconsistencies and such bother you? Every time I see one it rips me out of the world. Things like:
Patricia, I have issues with the intimacy in Ward's books, too. I'm not a prude either (I wouldn't be reading PNR if I was) but something about her scenes are a little too 'real' to me - and not in a good way. I feel like I'm a voyeur. It's like she enjoys trying to shock her readers more than writing genuine connection between her characters. I don't know if I'm making sense here, lol The scenes feel unnecessary because they don't really add to the book.
I think this is why I don't like PoP much, too. There were so many sex scenes that didn't feel integral to the story.
*takes deep breaths* /rant

- Spoiler:
- *Z vomiting up a SHOT to get Dem out of his system (LA)
*Butch being able to dematerialize (LM) and then suddenly JR Ward tells us (something like three times) emphatically that he can't (LUnl)
*Jane the amazing doctor, V the wonder nurse, Ehlena the sympathetic, and Mary the freakin' BDB therapist not realizing Payne would need the occasional outing while she healed (LUnl). Locking a suicidal patient in a sterile hospital room is such a great idea!
*Jane being able to go through walls while clothed. Unless she was waltzing through the hospital nude. Maybe it's easier to operate in your birthday suit?
*Vishous "I am an island" son of the Bloodletter automatically loving a sister he never met.
*V looking forward to carving Jane's name in his back (LUnb) and suddenly he didn't care enough to (LUnl)

Re: Off-Topic
Some people said especially the first three books of the series are good. But if I know that I probably won't like the later installments of the series, is it worth starting to read it? Darn, this is an almost philosophical question. Let's see what Martin Heidegger would say...
Re: Off-Topic
BDB is okay through book 5. Also, the plot isn't so super-awesome that you'd have to keep on going when you got bored. The overarching plot of the series is relatively thin.
I read them mostly for the interaction between the characters. However, Ward's been putting less and less witty repartee and more and more "plot" since book 6, so my interest is waning.
It all depends on the type of book you want to read.

Re: Off-Topic
Nina: I understand what you mean, but no.. that wasn't the real problem. Although she described those scenes pretty.. graphic, they were never seemed "real" to me. I was just uncomfortable about a M&M-relationship. And I'm always a bit uncomfortable about 'normal' sex-scenes, although I can read sensual scenes. Don't know, guess it's something about my messed up head
PoP = Play of Passion?
- Spoiler:
- I agree with you! Sometimes, while reading Lover Unleashed I really wondered about those things and thought I missed something. I was always like: Waiiiit.. I think I should read the whole series again, what's going on here? But:
Z vomiting up a SHOT to get Dem out of his system (LA) -- What does that mean? xD Sorry, I read the book in German and have NO idea what you mean .. *ashamed* Who is Dem? Vomiting up a shot? Ftw? oô
*Vishous "I am an island" son of the Bloodletter automatically loving a sister he never met. - Hm, although it might seem .. crazy, I understand it. She's blood. And I think he thought that she was a 'victim' just like he was. A victim of their oh-so-stupid mom or whatever. On the other hand I really didn't like how Xcor simply let her live because his father (not by blood, so what?) wasn't his 'real' (ha!) father. AND Wrath lets Manny live at the Brotherhood-mansion? For real? Because they're related? That's so stupid. I mean, even if it's an excuse to make it easier for other people (Scribe Virgin or whomever) to tolerate it, it's simply.. stupid. I always look out for the things the reader is told through the story. Like in Y/A-novels when a girl falls in love with someone and wants to become imortal, even if she has to leave everyone *cough* Twilight, Blood Coven, name it *cough* - I can't stand it. And till now Ward always made sure to show the reader that family is what you chose, not what you were born into. Well.. in this novel? Not so much. Mhe! I always got this 'unfair'-feeling..
BUT I really enjoyed reading the book. Okay, so I didn't enjoy the main couple as much as I was supposed to be to rate it a 3.5 and there WERE those things you mentioned above, but I still liked it, had some major heartache-minutes (Quiiiiiiiinn! Blaaaay!! ;_ etc. :')

Re: Off-Topic
Huh, it didn't feel like that to me.
So, if I compare them..
NS: Awesome worldbuilding, seriously! Not so awesome or complex characters, though.
Ward: Both middle-range, the characters are .. good and the story is, too. But in the end it's not some mind-blowing-stuff, whereas NS's Psy/Changeling-world (WORLD, not the characters!) is like viagra to me.
NS: Don't know, where she wants to go with the story, but she's told us that she knows exactly how she wants it to end -> we feel safe
Ward: Don't know if she knows how to end the story, don't know if she was a story arc, don't feel safe about the books, but enjoy them nonetheless.
I think, overall, the main difference is, that Wards book are.. darker. There are major problems. There IS a happy ending, BUT there are still problems. As for the rest, well.. I think you should read them, but you might try out an excerpt or 'buy' them via Tauschticket etc. just to be sure.
.. Did I really compare NS books .. viagra.. gosh, I'm so fucked up.

Never heard about Tauschticket. Need to check that out.
I hope they do deliver to Austria
There's nothing wrong in comaparing NS books to viagra - both give people joy

I'm take part at the half-marathon because it's for charity. It's really hard to say no when it's for charity. A couple of friends talked me into it, and stupid person that I am, I agreed. Now I have to train for a half-marathon. I just want to reach the goal somehow. If I have to crawl the last kilometers ( which will be very likely) I don't care. At least I can say I did it.

Jesus Christ, I'd WALK. That's it. Maybe with a Frappucino and a brownie. Dunno, might even read a book on my WALK! xD We had to run for money every year at school since I was.. 7th or 8th grade (I think the poor guys who're attending school NOW have to run this month, just as we always had to...) Sometimes I just gave them the money so I didn't have to run and when I ran I always made.. hm.. I think 20€. I was one of the people who got the most and I didn't even feel like shit afterwards, bu I'm just such a lazy person.. xD And nowadays I can't run at all. Stupid meds, I'm even out of breath when I go to the balcony xDD (Nah, okay, not thaat bad)
Mom's birthday is tomorrow and I'm so sick, I can't even buy the little things I haven't bought yet. -___-' Such a nice person I am. Go, me!
