strange..... (Nikita, Bonds of Justice)
I'm re-reading Bonds Of Justice on my computer and I just came across the part where Max says that the two people Nikita chose to work her case were two people whose mothers had thrown them away, and how that couldn't possibly be a coincidence.
Why would she do that? Could she be feeling somewhat maternal towards them?

I think she was trying to make up for having 'thrown away' Sascha, at least publicly. I'm thinking of what Sophia says to Nikita at the end, about how she can think of only one reason for why Nikita has done what she's done, but she (Sophia) just can't believe it of her. I think Sophia was talking about Nikita using Max and Sophia to 'redeem' herself to herself. (Which I think is what happened.)
Another answer with very convoluted logic: Nikita, knowing how humans and degraded J's act based on emotions, chooses them and then lets them *think* she's trying to redeem herself somehow, so they'll work even harder for her. I don't like that answer much!
As usual, could be very wrong about either (and hope I'm wrong about the second)!

I think that Nikita has basically resigned herself to the fact that Silence is falling and is unknowingly breaking her own silence as well. I also don't think that she ever truely disowned Sacha either, if she TRUELY had no feelings for her daughter she never would have kept the ties to DarkRiver and SnowDancer in business like she has...and she never would have spoken to Sascha at all in ANY setting be it business or otherwise.
As for our cop and J, she is now setting up her flood walls for when the wave hits, as she put it...making critical ties to some strong and connected individuals who can help stabalize her territory when the flood comes.
Oh and can I just say...Territorial Much?!? That little statement of protectiveness was just KILLER!! I had visions of Nikita in a cat suit holding a sword and shield staking her claim to the Purists...it was way too cool!

I also thought it was interesting how she calls Anthony by his first name. Granted, she does the same with Ming, but when she was talking to Anthony, I sorta had the feeling there was chemistry there. Am I the only one?

Yes, she would have kept her ties to DR because it was business and it increased her bank account. It's just like Anthony and Faith, she's still forcasting for the Psy with Anthony as a go between. It's pure business (or supposed to look like it with Anthony and Faith). With the Psy it's business before family connections and that it why she still talks to Sascha even if it's only business. Nikita even convinced (or tried to) herself that she was sending the manuscript of E-psy to Sascha for business purposes.

I got that too.
The line where its says,"Self interest ,she told herself. It had nothing to do with the fact that the pure psy had tried to target her daughter, her unborn grandchild". That line and of course Sophia's observation def gave me a very very strong vibe as to Nikita's "feelings". She may have been very silent at first, but now she is coming over to the middle.

Maybe Nikita has some empathic powers. I personally think that the E designation is a maternal inheritance of the Duncan family.
