I think I know who the Ghost is!

I've been re-reading Branded by Fire. And I just got to the part where Faith is talking to the NetMind and the NetMind has shown her a shield that protects the PsyNet. There are cracks in this shield. One is Judd, another is Walker...and there's one crack that belongs to the Ghost. This crack is described as being oldest but also the most isolated because it was hidden deep within the Net. Then the Ghost is described as being "very, very powerful". So powerful that when he broke his Silence, the net would well and truly shatter.

And I asked myself: Who could be so well hidden, yet so well connected that his breaking Silence could have such a profound effect on the Net. And that's when it hit me. The Anchors. We don't know much about them, but what we do know is that they are somehow directly responsible for the stability of the PsyNet. And if one starts to go off-kilter it can threaten the mental stability of everyone around them.

If The Ghost is an Anchor and if he CHOOSES to break silence then that would have a profound impact on his section of the net.

I haven't really thought of that...But I think you could be right.

But the question now is...which anchor has turned Silence off?

Aren't the anchors the ones who are the serial killers though? Or maybe only some of them go down that hole?

They're more prone to it, but not all of them--probably not even most of them--go that route.

There was mention that the anchor in Sri Lanka area that had to be "fixed" in some way, what I was asking is...which region's anchor would fall, I get the impression that some areas of the net are held by only one anchor, where other areas there is more than one. So is the ghost an anchor that could make a region fall, or not?

If my theory holds, he is an anchor. A very, very important one too. (Nalini doesn't write about average people). So important that if/when he breaks his silence not only will his section of the net break silence, but so will the rest of the net because the other anchors won't be strong enough to pick up the slack.

So far we only hear about the one in Sri Lanka without actually who he/she is and what he/she is truly capable of.

I'm still trying to figure out if the Ghost is good or evil, just like Kaleb although the latter seems to have a higher tendency belonging to the dark forces.

I think he's more Good than Evil. He's helped the changlings out on several occasions and he seems to have a conscious. That right there puts him one up on Kaleb.

He seems more likely to be on the good side than Councilor Kaleb Krychek but a part of me still cannot trust him completely, lol

He isn't not bad or not good, he is a true psy. By that statement I mean that he is the perfect balance of logic and emotion to maintain control and be rational in the choices he makes to protect his people from those who have lost the balance. The intent of Silence was not to stop feeling completely, but to mute those feelings to the point of making the mind think it doesn't feel and respond with logic. If you have ever seen the show "Bones", Dr. Temprence as a good example of a psy...displacing emotion with logic, but yet being driven by those same emotions through life.

Love ur Bones reference. I think the Ghost is not on a side, but his decisions and actions help the good side anyways. I definitely think Kaleb is on the bad side.

Kaleb is driven by power, as is all council members to a degree...with the exception of Anthony, they all have an agenda of their own. Not to say that those agenda's are all bad, just selfish.
