Sienna

In Branded by Fire, we learned that the X power is extremely dangerous. Not just to others, but to the Psy who has it. Its so dangerous that Sascha thinks that Cardinal X-Psys are a myth...that they couldn't possibly survive to adulthood and that even those with a moderate amount of X power usually killed themselves with their own "gifts".

So I'm wondering: How has Sienna Lauren managed to live so long?

Judd has probably helped a lot. And maybe being completely Silenced is what caused the others to not survive into adulthood. Or the others could have been captured and experimented on by the Council.

Judd probably did help, but I think the X-Psy were probably part of the group that benefited from Silence. I mean, look what happened when Sienna got a little emotional around Hawke's murals. I can't imagine those cave walls crack easily but she was able to do it. And the implication was that that crack was just a fraction of what she was capable of.

I don't put anything past the Council, but if they were experimenting on X-Psy, they surely would have taken one of the few cardinals ever to be produced with that power.

Funny thought: You know how Psy talents are determined at birth, and sometimes before? Well, can you imagine the look on the doctor's face when he realized that he was holding a <em>Cardinal X-Psy</em> Emotionless or not, he would have been VERY careful not to make that baby mad.

If you remember the same scene in the hallway between Sascha and Sienna it was stated that the whole reason the Lauren family was slated for rehabilitation was her and her strength of power. The council is terrified of her...even if they can't feel it.

I think Sienna's mother's suicide might have factored into the decision as well.

Sienna said that she was trying to hold everything in, all emotion. If X-psy need an outlet in order to stay under control, then Silence would drive them all insane or into accidently killing themselves or others.

As it was proven with Judd in CbI these extreme talents need not only the silence of emotion but an addition of pain controls put in place to keep them in check. Judd helped Sienna turn those controls off, which is why she is struggling with her talent now. She needs to find a "control" for herself that doesn't cause damage to herself, while at the same time allowing her to keep her emotions too.

What do you think will happen with Sienna?

Just a speculation:
What will change if she'll finally have to leave the LaurenNet and
go back to the PsyNet?
Do you think something important will change in the LaurenNet?
Sienna has so much power, how will a the missing of this power effect the LaurenNet
and can it exist without her?

As for the LaurenNet...that's a really good question. Hmmmm.... I'd say that the odds are in favor of its survival. Since its inception it has gained a new member (Brenna) and has been joined to Hawke's web through Judd. But if it isn't able to survive, I think that Walker, Toby, and Marlee could join the Web of Stars.

I'm not sure she could go back. Wouldn't she be recognized?

I think, that she has to go back. Maybe the ghost can help her to hide.
And in Sts sascha hides the colour of her star, so I think it is possible that no one
recognize Sienna in the PsyNet. But just speculation...

After thinking about this...I have to agree with Katherine. She would be recognized. The ghost really isn't hidden, he is just going by an alias so he is basically hiding in plain sight so to speak, he could not trully assist in any camoflaging of her star. She was being tutored by Ming and he would recognize her as soon as she entered.

What if, later on, Sienna self destructs? I agree with the theory that Silence helped people like she and Judd - Judd says so on numerous occasions in CBI and Sascha hears it from Sienna's own mouth in the cave scene. But if she does go back into the net she will definitely be recognised by Ming, (if say Nikita or Anthony, or Judd's contact does not help her), no question. So either Ming has to die before she goes back, or she has to learn to deal with being outside a controlled environment. Maybe Amara, with her 'blank slate' can provide some help, I don't know. So if she really has to live outside the net, it makes sense that she'd eventually self-destruct - or come close to it. I think, though, that being one of the most powerful Psy alive, she would have a major role to play, may even shake the council's foundations.

By the way - and this is just a very minor suggestion - anyone ever thought of Kaleb/Sienna? I just thought of it this instant.

Kaleb and Sienna? Well now that would be an.....intereteresting combination.

Kaleb+Sienna...I like the idea, imagine the mega powers the duo will have.

Despite that, I am too obsessed with Hawke+Sienna.

Somehow, I just don't see a Kaleb/Sienna match happening...he is way too much of a power monger to let her actually exist.

I think if Sienna would be Hawke's mate there will be a link to the Lauren Net and the Snow Dancers through them.

Sienna, going back? The Laurens have more powerful abilities than other Psy(s) and correct she's the main reason for their rehabilitation. She's a great threat to the Psy leaders and going back is not a good idea.

Judd have learned how to divert his powers to good use after defection and that's what Sienna needs to learn. Also, the need to develop more control and discipline, maturity and emotional balance to really learn how to stabilize her powers.

And I believe, "someone" will be there (other than her family) to anchor her.

Kaleb/Sienna? I think not. Same nature repels. Power choke I might say.

I believe the reason why Sienna lasted so long is because of her brother's E powers. Sascha got a book from her mother and when she did a little research she was told the the writer of the book was going to write about X powers. I think that they are connected.

I think that you are right to a degree...He started to assist with his E powers only after Sienna broke her pain controls...and once she put the shield up to keep him out then she started to crumble which is what brings us to the decision of sending her to Dark River for distance from the powder keg so to speak. I think that the relationships that she builds inside of Dark River will help her in the balancing act she has with emotional/x-power control. She has a harder time with the control besause she is a cardinal, and it is going to be VERY interesting to watch her win the battle over her emotions.

I'm not sure what that designation stands for either. Only that it is INCREDIBLY dangerous. Sienna can crack stone--by accident--when she's upset. Imagine the amount of damage she could do on purpose.

Oooohhh... I hope it gets explained! I'll seriously be sitting at the edge of my chair until it does! Hopefully Sienna gets her own book!

I can't wait to find out more about Sienna and her power. She was the one that theorized that Psy could live with biofeadback from the challengings and humans. I wonder if that has to do with her power. I am interested to find out more about her mother (what was her power)? I also find it odd that she would commit suicide and not look out for her children (since this is a Psy family that protects and cares for each other). Was she driven mad or compelled like Samuel Rain-in order to provide an excuse to eliminate this powerful family.
I think that Sienna's power must be intense if it it is stronger that Ming's and she was not through training. Remember that the author that was writing about the power disappeared with all the work-could it have been hidden with the challengings. I wonder if the forgotten know more about the power.

Has there been anything mentioned about Sienna and Tobys dad?
