Re: Just got my ARC
I was able to read KOS this weekend & absolutely loved both Hawke and Sienna. There's several really cute (and hot) scenes in this book. The scene Patricia described was one of my favorites too.
Here's another (hot) quote:
Here's another (hot) quote:
- Spoiler:
- “Are you planning to hurt me?” He growled. That was a question that didn't need an answer. “Then why,” she murmured, “would I want to stop you?”

- Spoiler:
Although I'm still (again? xD) mad at Hawke, I love the scene, which is saying a lot -lol- I hope I'm not confusing things, though, cause I'm not sure -when- this is happening:
One night, when Sienna's already asleep, Hawke's knocking on her door. She lets him in and they go do bed. No sex etc. I think she's having a bad dream and he's there for her then, but I'm not sure. However when she wakes up he is lying behind her, his face in her neck and their legs tangled up and she realizes that this is the first moment that she woke up next to a man.
I know, this might be nothing big or major or hot or whatever to you, but I loved the scene and the way Nalini wrote it. They are neither fighting nor do they have one of their passionate moments (although there is steamy stuff happening as soon as they are both awake, if I remember correctly). They are just lying there and I love it.
*if that makes sense oô
Oh, that's really sweet. So normal, which is what leaders and soldiers fight for to give to the people they protect.
Thank you, Patricia

Ooooh. Spoilers! <3
I have a question for ARC readers, in the previous books we see that Hawke flirts with Sacha to piss her mate off. I was wondering if they get back at Hawke in KOS now that he has found his own mate?

Once again Nalini shows us that she is a master storyteller. in her latest installment of the Psy/Changeling series she once again sweeps us into the world of Changelings/Psy and Human making us feel like this world is completely real, and we know these characters personally. This series gets better and better with each book. When there is a lot of build up for a specific story (think Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon), the readers get invested and we have our vision of what we want to happen. Sometimes we like it and sometimes we don’t. I for one think that this is the perfect story for these two, and it lives up to all the expectations I had of this book.
From the moment we meet Hawke we have wanted to know his back story. When did he become the Alpha, what was this tragedy that happened when he and Riley were teen-agers that caused them to become orphans. Why and how did his mate died as a child. All of those questions are answered and the impact that they had on him.
From the moment that he first meets Sienna as a defiant teen-ager protecting her brother and cousin he knows that there is something about her that will change everything, what he wasn’t sure. As he watches her blossom into a woman he is torn, he wants her so much his teeth hurt, and everyone is telling him to back off. Then suddenly he is told okay to not waste any more time. It is enough to make a wolf crazy.
The moment that she dropped out of the net and met Hawke’s eyes as a teenager she broke silence. She knew that he was hers. What she didn’t expect was what took place between that moment and now.
One of the things that I liked about this book was the it explained so much of the behavior and attitude of these two people from the time that we met them. We discover the real reason behind the Lauren family’s rehabilitation order, why Sienna bitched so much about her training with Indigo, and why she chaffed at the way people treated her, especially Hawke.
There is also the story of Walker and Lara. Walker has been the defacto head of the Lauren Family. His back story explains so much about this family and why they are all the way that they are. It also explains a lot about what he did in the Net and how that will impact the coming war.
Lara the healer of SnowDancer is a really great character, and we get to see a bit about what she is like, not a lot which I am really okay with, but others might want more. I found her to be the perfect match for Walker.
The war against the PSY also heats up, and Hawke has to let Sienna do what she was trained to do, which goes against everything in him, to let his woman go into battle. He also discovers just what the X designation is and how deadly it can be especially to Sienna.
There is a lot in this book. Questions are answered, and more questions come up. Sasha and Lucas have their baby (not going to say what it is, but one of my favorite scenes is when Hawke meets the baby). We see more of the Arrows, sadly not the Arrow that I wanted to see but we discover just where their loyalties may lie.
This book was everything that I could have hoped for and more. I was left completely satisfied with every aspect of it. If you are a fan of this series then you won’t be disappointed, I know I wasn’t. In fact since I received my copy I have read it twice.
Grade A

- Hawke blocked Elias’s kick and put the senior soldier on his back. “Damn it, Eli. You’re leaving yourself wide open.”
Elias lay on the ground, chest heaving. “No I’m not. You're just not pulling any punches.” He winced. “I’m going to set Yuki on you—she doesn’t like it when you beat me up.”
Unamused, Hawke waited as the other man rolled to his feet. “You said you wanted to spar so you could figure out what you needed to work on.”
“I take it back.” Elias braced himself with his hands on his knees. “The single person who can spar with you in this kind of a mood is Riley.” Rising to his full height, he shoved a hand through dark brown hair damp with sweat. “I need to give you my report anyway.”

- Spoiler:
- Magazine Extras: Nalini Singh Psy/Changeling Series Giveaway!
BY RT BOOK REVIEWS, MAY, 11 2011 | PERMALINK
We are really looking forward to the latest chapter in bestselling author Nalini Singh's Psy/Changeling series, this month's Kiss of Snow — and we know you are too. Fans of the series have been clamoring to find out more about Hawke and Sienna since the series starter, Slave To Sensation. So to get you caught up on what's been happening between the mentally gifted Psy and the animal shifters known as Changelings, we are giving you a chance to win the series' nine-book backlist before Singh's new release hits shelves at the end of May.
The author chatted with RT Executive Editor Faygie Levy about her popular paranormal series in the June issue of RT BOOK REVIEWS magazine. In the article “A Kiss of Romance, Times Two,” Singh gives an insider's look at the evolution of the series and talks a bit about what you can expect from Kiss of Snow.
And if that doesn't have you convinced that Kiss of Snow should definitely be in your TBR pile, each day for the next two weeks RT's Web Editor (and uber-fan) Morgan Doremus will reveal the reasons why she thinks Kiss of Snow is so great.
Morgan's Top 10 Reasons Why You Need To Read Kiss Of Snow
Reason #10: New readers will get to meet the full cast of characters in the Psy/Changling series and returning fans will get to spend time with their favorite characters (including a very pregnant Sascha).
Reason #9: We learn more about the younger generation of the SnowDancer and DarkRiver packs and I am pleased to report that the potential for books in this series is limitless! I would read a story about any one of these characters (especially the Alpha-in-training Kit).
Reason #8: Despite his position as leader of the SnowDancers, Hawke is teased mercilessly when he begins courting Sienna. (The scene where Brenna catches Hawke calling his Psy “pretty baby” is hilarious).
For Reason #7: check back tomorrow ...
And don't forget to leave a comment to be entered to win one of the first nine Psy/Changeling books — or the grand prize, the entire series backlist!
***
GIVEAWAY ALERT: Nine lucky readers will each win a book in the Psy/Changeling series and one grand-prize winner will get the entire series backlist! To enter leave a comment telling us what is your favorite part of the Psy/Changeling universe (or why you can't wait to dive into this series). One winner will be announced every day during the next two weeks and the grand-prize winner will be chosen on Monday, May 23!

If you ordered your kindle from your amazon account it is pre registered to your account you just plug in and go it takes 30 seconds for a book to download To be honest because the download is so quick I don't bother Preordering anymore unless I know I am going to away with no access to a wifi network which to be honest is rare these days With Lover Unleashed I just ordered it on the morning of release as soon as I woke up and it was there just like magic!!! Shopping in the kindle store is so easy it soon becomes an expensive habit I have had to set myself a monthly budget now but there are loads of classics you can download for free your gonna love it plus you can sync your kindle account to you iPhone,iPad,laptop or android phone so you have access to all the books on your kindle sometimes at work when I really can not be bothered I sneakily read a book on my iPhone it's great!! although it helps that I have my own office I suppose lol I am really excited your gonna have the kindle we can be kindle buddies

Yes wasn't too impressed with LU myself but I persevered and finished it hopefully the next one will be better other wise the warden is off my list to buy immediately everyone has off days she must have had a lot though to write LU it was really bad a waste of £5 if you ask me. I finished the new Skokie stackhouse yesterday let me know what you think when you finish. Well at least you had one productive hour and as they say there is always tomorrow!!!!

Re: Just got my ARC
I re-read Play of Passion and the Chapter 1 excerpt from Kiss of Snow. In Play of Passion, it says that Hawke hadn’t touched Sienna in any way in over a year. Then when he touches her, she says, don’t touch me (page 31). In Kiss of Snow, Chapter 1, Hawke doesn’t hesitate in touching Sienna’s face and she doesn’t tell him to stop it. So, I’m finding the two scenes to be contradictory (as in, “no don’t touch me” and “yes touch me”). Does anyone else see it as a contradiction?
Also, I found another review at: http://thebookpushers.com/2011/05/12/review-kiss-of-snow-by-nalini-singh/
Also, I found another review at: http://thebookpushers.com/2011/05/12/review-kiss-of-snow-by-nalini-singh/
- Spoiler:
Kiss of Snow is the long awaited and much anticipated tenth book in the Psy-Changeling series and ties up a few major plot threads that have been woven throughout the previous books. So it is fitting that it focuses on Hawke, the alpha of the Snow Dancer wolf pack, and Sienna Lauren, the Cardinal X Psy who is the bane of his existence. These two have become firm fan faves, and we finally get to read their story. And I have to say that it was well worth the wait, because their story definitely met up to expectations and then some.
Hawke is really reluctant to engage into a relationship with Sienna, due to his inner fears and doubts that he would be an unsuitable mate — even though his thoughts, instincts and feelings are at breaking point to relent and pursue her. Whilst Sienna, who shares the same attractions, feels that Hawke will never see her as someone who he could have a relationship with due to her age and differences. But over the course of the book they each challenge and break each other’s walls down which really helped with the buildup of tension between them. I really felt that Kiss of Snow was one of the best books that utilizes sexual tension in a fantastic way. The moment when Sienna finally challenges and pushes Hawke’s control, I could actually feel and sense the romantic tension between them which was very vivid, sensual and earthy.
I also loved how their courtship evolved from the initial fiery confrontation from a hilarious scene where Hawke had to stop Sienna from inciting riot at a bar, to the playful chase and catch games that really brought out Hawke’s wolf. That ratcheted the tension up even further and really cements their relationship.
I also loved how they resolved their issues and inner conflict especially about the fact that Sienna is younger and inexperienced compared to Hawke — I know there have been some comments about this pairing. But we learn that Sienna bearing a heavy burden due to her dangerous gift and her childhood has her matured much faster than a typical person. She also forces Hawke to face some truths about his past and engages with him to treat her as an equal and I loved how she turned the tables on him! Whilst Hawke shows Sienna that she can open up and share her fears with him.
This leads up to them realising that they are equals and this is what makes it believable and makes this a top-notch romance. I know some people have had commented about the age gap but in this case, it wasn’t an issue and there was no power imbalances. I also loved how Sienna dealt with Hawke and his wolf, who is really intense and I loved how Nalini Singh conveys that aspect to the reader. I really felt she really captured this shifter side well because Hawke has lived with his wolf side more openly to help him being alpha unlike other shifters. This helped to define who they were and what it meant to be together. There is a key scene in the book which symbolises their relationship and it has become one of my favourites. They dance for the first time and both remark they are equals after talking about their Psy and Changeling aspects. The dancing scene reflected the way they had danced around together metaphorically and they have finally have stopped evading and confronting each other and realised that there is possibilities between them.
Another aspect that I loved in the book was the secondary romance with Lara, the pack healer, and Walker, Sienna’s Uncle who we really get to know in this book. I loved how their relationship mirrored Sienna and Hawke’s romance which is fiery and full of inner and outer conflict. But with Walker and Lara their romance was much more subtle but no less intense and whew *fans self* sure can give Judd a run for his money with the icy brooding stakes.
Kiss of Snow also focuses on plot threads about the upcoming war with the Psy Council which has fragmented with opposing factions. It is also the book that due to the buildup with all of the plots and schemes that Psy councillors have caused, their nefarious schemes come to a head which has major ramifications with the members and the changelings. There is also some interesting and plot threads that are introduced, which I think will start a new story arc, as well as new hints due to a new character that is introduced.
Previous major characters appear. Sacha, Lucas, and Judd also have prominent roles, and there is some fantastic scenes involving them which I enjoyed immensely. In a lot of ways the minor subplot that involved Sacha and Lucas was a great way to sum up this previous story arc but also symbolises a new change and direction which mirrors the direction of the series.
Kiss of Snow was a pure and utter joy to read. I inhaled this book and reread it again! This is how you tease and tantalize and reward readers for a long promise romance and it is done with real heartfelt emotions and passion. I was totally lost into this story and the characters, and I have to say this is the best book of the whole series. This is a wonderful steamy romance with the best build up of sexual tension I have read and jam packed with action and plot that the pace never stalls. I think this will be a firm fan fave and it definitely lives up to the promise, especially after that long wait. I will reread this again and again, and I hope we get more glimpses of Hawke and Sienna in future books because I wished this book never end.
I give Kiss of Snow an AWESOME A+

Thank you MJ - loved that review.
Re: H touching S contradiction - It is a bit of a contradiction however I think that the context in which the touching is taking place is the key here. In C1 KOS he is touching her as her commander and she is clearly a sub-ordinate however their chemistry is obviously heating up!!! YAY 17 days!!!!!!!!!!! xxx

I've been lurking for weeks, checking every day in hopes of finding yet another spoiler. Thanks to all who have shared spoilers here! I cannot wait to read KOS.
I finally registered to respond to MJ's post re the H and S apparent touching contradiction. I agree with catikins that the context in which the touching is taking place is key. I also just finished re-reading Play of Passion, and here is that later scene after Drew was shot (pp. 305-06) where Sienna shows up and voluntarily touches Hawke's back, seemingly to seek reassurance/comfort.
