The Ghost
Let´s have another "The Ghost" discussion ^^
Two days ago I read something, that made me, a staunch defender of Kaleb as the ghost, sway.
In Branded by Fire, the GHost calls Judd, to ask him some ethical question.
In KoS the first scene between Aden and Vasic takes place in a desert.
second point: The Ghost mental state
Kaleb is as stable as they come. And he clearly and without a doubt cares about his quarry. (BoJ - killing the serial killer, helping Sophia, finding the graves)
Vasic is broken on a very fundamental level. The Jax regimen he was put on, cemented his silence and reset his brain. It is hinted to a point that he doesn´t even really speak with his fellow arrows anymore, except for Aden, who seems to be the only one to get a grasp on him.
The ghost is driven by an almost manic desire to break the council and he doesn´t truly care, who dies for that goal. He needs to be reminded, that someone he doesn´t want to die, might be killed in the wake of the council toppling and agrees only haltingly to consider this.
contra: Vasic is obviously "touched" (for lack of a better word) by cleaning up murder sites, to sweep the councils dirty little secrets under the rug. (see my signature, HtP, talk with Dorian)
Third: While Kaleb is the strongest TK in the Net, and thus the council´s NetMind babysitter, Vasic is a pretty strong TK as well. So, it might be both.
The Ghost has information, that can only come from the council superstructure, which points to Kaleb, BUT Vasic is Mings personal transport vehicle of choice and seems to be staying around him 90% of the time. Since Ming was in charge of the Implant Labs, he would easily have been able to get those informations. Not to forget, that he´s an ally of Anthony Kyriakus and Zie Zen.
Forth: In the last to books, the Ghost hasn´t been that active, as before. He tells Judd, he got other matters on his hands. The Arrows are shifting their allegiance to Kaleb. Whith Aden and thus Vasic the driving forces behind this. OK.. could be both
Fifth: Kaleb has pretty strong interest in San Francisco, and be it just, because Nikita is his most public ally in the council. But the Ghost says, that SF is uninteressting for him at the moment.
Sixth: Nalini said, that Vasic might get his own book if "he survives the madness of what he does" (if I remember correctly)
Enough?
Ok, I´m still open on the answer and wont say, he and he is the Ghost. Heck, for all that we know, it might be Mings good side.

Coding in the number as he stood in a desolate location no one would ever trace to his real
identity, he called Judd.
In KoS the first scene between Aden and Vasic takes place in a desert.
HUNDREDS OF MILES away, in the barren heart of another continent, an Arrow named Aden scanned his gaze over a desert wasteland that was a rich
rust red under sunlight, but now glimmered silver in the glow of the moon. “Why do you always come here?” he asked the fellow member of the squad
who’d teleported him to the location.
“There’s clarity here,” Vasic said, looking out at the rolling vista of sand dunes, his eyes a piercing silver that echoed the brilliance of the moon.

Re: The Ghost
As much as I would love the Ghost to be Vasic, I still think the majority of the evidence provided in the books points to it being Kaleb.
Although it may have been Vasic and not Kaleb who saved Annie from the train wreck.
Nalini acknowledges that Vasic 'feels' quite openly however both Kaleb and the Ghost maintain that they are truly silent apart from their one weakness the person they are both searching for.
So much of what Kaleb says and his actions mirror that of the Ghost, also why would the Ghost contact Anthony when we all know Vasic is already part of the rebellion.

Re: The Ghost
I think it's probably Kaleb but its more just my own feeling. I didn't do nearly the analysis that you did, or Jane did over at Dear Authors in her uber-detailed piece.
I do wonder if the desert imagery and "Sahara NightStar" are tied in together somehow. Could just be coincidence. I keep thinking Sahara is going to make an appearance down the road.

Re: The Ghost
The only thing that's holding me from backing Kaleb as the Ghost is his mental instability. I just can't see how the Ghost could go to their council meetings and not betray his manic drive to kill them.
The councilors are aware of the existence of the Ghost, and knowing that Kaleb is Enrique's protégé, they're probably keeping a close eye on him...I don't know, I just can't associate all of them not having suspicions, they didn't become councilors by being clueless.^^

Where did she say this? That's quite interesting.
Oh, and Vasic can´t have saved her... wasn´t she saved by a cardinal?
As for searching: Im don't think Vasic is searching for anybody, he just this strong connection to Aden.
One the other hand, Kaleb would be badass enough to pull this off with the council
I just reread the scene at the end of BoM, had totally forgotten about this one. Hehe. Vasic and Aden are just yummy!

Re: The Ghost
Your right, I've re-read that bit and the person who saved Annie had cardinal eyes, Vasic's are silver grey.
I know Vasic isn't searching for anyone but both Kaleb and teh Ghost are.
She commented on Vasic in a webchat ages ago.

Re: The Ghost
I thought it may be Kaleb, because Judd says or thinks he knows this person to 99% and he was an Arrow so he propably might recognize Vasic so I thought maybe he knows who Kaleb is, but would need to see his face to be sure, but Vasic he would recognize by his figure, walk and so on...

Re: The Ghost
Damn logic! Always getting in my way
But You´re right
I Thought about that too...
On the other hand.. Judd can blurr his appearance and Vasic is a damn powerful TK as well

Re: The Ghost
oh... it´s Kaleb. LOL
100% sure.
He´s been looking for his quarry für 6 years 4 months... and so on in BoJ.
Judd had been aproached by the Ghost in the net to ally up against the council and they formed their little insurgency cell with Xavier Perez.
In CbI Father Perez scolds Judd for not calling him by his given name, even though, they "have been working together for close to six years".
Hah!
No idea how that one eluded me through 6 rereads

I mean, I won't say that Kaleb is or isn't the Ghost, but how. the heck. could I have missed that?
Re: The Ghost
Welcome to the club.
I think, it so easily overlooked, because it's just some chat thrown in.
Nothing major, nothing important. The ghost even isn't in it

Re: The Ghost
And that would tie in with the disappearance of Sahara NightStar perhaps? Maybe that's what pushed the Ghost over the edge and into full fledged insurgency?

Looks... interesting....
What made me stumble a little, was how Judd said, he met Father Perez a year after hooking up with the ghost.. BUT...

Re: The Ghost
I´m using that Timeline thingie, that´s floating around as an achor and working my way trough it, comparing seasons and stuff.
BRB
Need to find some books.
.. you know, well organized authors are hell for me. My mind has this horrible drive to file, store and compare every piece of information.
So if there is something to actually FIND... I go crazy.
Gnah!
*sigh*

Re: The Ghost
Doesn´t add up.. I´m missing a year.
And there´s some kind of discrepancy between what is said and what is in the books.
Email to get some reliable dates ^^
I´m such a freaking Historian cliché *groans*
No normal job in the world will ever be able to change that.

Re: The Ghost
Can you post the timeline you've constructed to date, and then we might be able to help out? I'm thinking about starting a re-read of a couple of the books so I can look for missing data.
