HEART OF OBSIDIAN: Psy-Changeling #12 - June 4, 2013!

Like Alliee said, it was Christine Feehan who tried that with Dark Predator (keeping the name of the heroine secret) and it was totally obvious who it was going to be so it was no surprise and ended up back-firing.

I just hope that the next Psy-Changeling is a good story (a great story would be nice!). I can ignore the hype about the title. If they want to call it Psy-Changeling #12 for the next 7 months so be it.

Yurice, "the current political climate"? Why wouldn't it be OK to have a female Arrow? I don't quite get that reasoning.

Especially with the council having almost half the membership being female...that reasoning is a copout!

Yes, if Tatiana and Shoshanna can be stone cold killers, why not a female Arrow?

Interesting point. Come to think of it, most of the female psy we have seen with really butt kicking abilities are "bad guys." Like Nikita with her telepathic virusis. With the exception of Sienna, the female psy have mostly benign abilities: empathy, forcasting, medical. I would like to see a female arrow.

It was in the Q&A at goodreads. I said I'm dying for an Arrow heroine but her reply was

Arrow heroine - that can't happen in the current political climate.

I don't know why it is so, and the Q&A closed before I could ask her to clarify. ^^

and someone metioned it´s about the birds....na, how were they called? Arrows?...I forgot, but I was pretty surprised to see that cover and title...

Can someone translate the title? "Mysterious Contact" is what my translator came up with and that definitely looks like an eagle or bird tatoo.

You don't suppose it could be about the eagles/hawks and their leader, Adam? All I remember about him is that he succeeded his Grandmother and Hawke made fun of his long hair.

Not for book #12. Nalini said a while back in an interview that she won't be exploring any other changeling packs but the main two (SnowDancer and DarkRiver) in the main series, but may do so in later spin-off books.

Roxsan, have you seen the cover? That sure looks like an eagle tattoo to me. I am sort of freaking out thinking that we're going to have Adam as the H of the next book. Maybe he's going to find his mate in a wolf or cat?

I saw the cover, but given what Nalini has said about not exploring the other packs in the main arc, and the huge 'we can't reveal the title of the book until the day of its release cause of huge spoilers', I think it's safe to assume that Adam won't be the next protagonist in the series.

Nalini has confirmed on Facebook that the above link IS the German cover and title for book #12. She had this to say:

Yep, it is. My (awesome) German publisher worked very hard not to give anything away while staying true to the story...so there is no obvious giveaway if that's what you'd like to know.

So, the eagle tattoo is a red herring perhaps? Still, it's odd. Clearly though the title and the blurb give nothing away and provide no real info.

The obvious choice would be Adam the alpha from Windhaven and I think Nalini has mentioned writing about him however I thought we were sticking with SD and DR for the rest of this ARC?

Of course it could be Adam and Jem or Rina's book?

The tatoo could belong to someone whose body we haven't seen yet, in which case it could be any number of changlings or maybe even a regegade psy?

I did just have a wild idea about the Ghost being a changeling/psy hybrid that Enrique created though....

Or that the pack/packs were somehow involved with what happened in the past, maybe way back at the start of the silence or maybe in Kaleb or Vasic or even Sahara's past?

The bay makes me think of another country or maybe the water changelings being involved.

The swirls could indicate the owner having the TK-V ability so either Kaleb or Vasic?

Is it ever mentioned how long Kalebs hair is?

The guys hair is dark and long and his skin light so not Alexei, Matthias or Kenji then... Maybe it's Tomas's book?

Maybe Tomas and a water based changeling? Alongside the continuation of Kaleb, the Ghosts and the Arrows stories then, that would also be kind of predictable though...

The titles change acording to country so that's not even a clue really.

The bay in the background looks like it could be in the UK, Ireland or New zealand.

Doesn't Shoshanna live in England? She was the one rumoured to have a pet captive f-psy (I assume it's Sahara).

SnowDancer have pack members in England so maybe it's a SnowDancer male that we haven't met yet?

I think we can safely assume from the blurb we find out who the Ghost is though....

I know the rebellion members have a gold coin each but is there a picture of an eagle on that coin maybe?

I so hope this isn't Adam's book, I really wasn't keen on him at all

I think the bird tattoo may be symbolic as opposed to literal. It looks like a hawk and what are the characteristics of a hawk? Wiki tells me:

Even though the hawk is known for being a violent predator, the bird is actually on the peaceful side

The birds prefer a habitat that is open. Hawks usually like to habitat in places like deserts and fields.

The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline on the southern coast of the Sorrentine Peninsula in the Province of Salerno in Southern Italy. Some of the pictures look very similar to teh coast line on the German cover.
Also Venice is in Italy, so maybe there is a link to the Arrows living outside the net or the human alliance?

Someone asked Nalini whether it was Adam via Twitter (and posted her answer over at goodreads).

I just ask Nalini via Twitter, first if the hero from book #12 is Adam, based on German version cover. She answer " Would we be that obvious?"

And another poster pointed out that book covers rarely (hardly ever?) really match up with what's inside for any author.

Hopefully she wouldn't be as obvious as to put Adam on the cover, however she didn't deny it either though.

It is fun to speculate and helps pass the time.

I think Adam might make a good H one day, but he's not Kaleb or Aden or Vasic and that is who most of us are expecting to the next book to be about.
