I really respect the authors so I feel really bad about not loving it. It was a really solid book, too. Probably more so than the first two Edge books. I just wasn't as attached to Kaldar and Audrey. I did love seeing the boys again, though.

I'll eventually read it again. Maybe I'll like it more then.

I think I know the feeling, but I think it's better to say that you don't love the books, although they were good instead of lying to yourself. It's something I've noticed many people do. I did when I was younger, too, I have to admit. *sigh* Best examples might be most Young Adult novels or book-series'. Kiss of Snow in my opinion, too, although I actually really liked it when I first read it. LOL

Anyway, I really think it sucks to vote for an author because you liked some of their books when it really is obvious that they aren't THAT talented. I do like Ward's books, but I don't think her 2011 releases were as good as Archangel's Blade. And I'm quite sure that there other novels that were better than both of these books.

I'm wondering where Meljean Brook and Rachel Vincent are. They both write pretty good stories, but nope, nowhere to be found..

*sigh*

Goodreads isn't any better than High School right now.

Gross, High School.

Better than JR Ward's forums, though - those are more like Middle School. Laughing

JR Wards Envy was really really good.
Her whole Fallen Angels series is.
But Lover Unleashed was just.. not good.
The story was all over the place, the romance was second row and all in all .... I loved the background to V/Butch.
And you could just as well have scratched the rest of the book.

I thought the same, look at the German cobers from Changeling/Psy, the book was about Brenna- a wolf and Judd- a Psy, who was on the cover? a tiger...does that make any sense?

With Dev and Katya itĀ“s a leopard... makes TOTAL sense!

At least they didnĀ“t take a cat for Hawke Very Happy

Only for everyone else.

Sometimes I just feel treated like 5 year old by the German book industry

The only covers I've been okay with were the UK ones. I think the US one that bugged me the most was Clay & Tally's book.

How is that Clay? On what planet?

The whole way of creating them is stupid...
If youĀ“re lucky, you hand in a description of hero and his lady and may say yes or no in the end.. mostly.. you donĀ“t

I mean, I did a few and had one or two done for me and itĀ“s just... bullsh#*Ā§$

And that only counts for you own publisher, not any subcontracted publishers in other countries ^^

ItĀ“s just, that everybody expects you to say, you love it.

But theyĀ“re getting better. The German covers for the Archangels series are pretty nice
ItĀ“s only for the Psy/CHangeling series, that theyĀ“re still looking straight out of the 80s. And I bet, they donĀ“t want to change the "series identity", or else people wont find the books again on the shelf

As for Clay?

Black guys STILL donĀ“t sell *sigh* and weĀ“re stupid of course and it would hurt the sales...
*mumbles something about "5year olds"*

I actually didn't notice Clay was black until AFTER I had finished the book. Seems to have slipped my mind. When I reread it the first time I was like: "What the fuck, but he isn't even black on the US (!!) cover!"

In Germany I wouldn't expect anything else, because our cover-models never look like the real character, but US covers? -_-'

US covers are rarely accurate. Any genre.

Too many middle men between writer and illustrator, I guess...

Not only the covers are inaccurate, i.e wrong hair color, but romance covers used to embarrass me so much I'd take out the jacket if it's a hardcover, and wrap it in used giftwraps if it's paperback. ^^;
Now, I just don't care about the covers anymore.
For Psy-Changeling series however, I prefer the UK ones. :3 Even if they got Hawke's eyes wrong. Evil or Very Mad

I thought about ordering the UK paperbacks. Some of them, at least. They'd be looking good in my shelf. Although I'm not sure because I don't know what the books' spines look like. (The font)

Well, compared to German covers I actually always thought that US covers are very good. They might look trashy or like a bad photoshop-job, but..

But if anyone visits your house and sees the US version covers they automatically subtract 50 points from their opinion of your IQ. Sad

Good point. XD

But they wouldn't want me to stop reading - and if they wanted me to, they wouldn't be my family or friends. We don't order each other around.. often - they'd just think I'm yet another illusioned female in need of a dose of reality. Which would annoy me to no ends.

In the beginning I was embarassed, but sheesh, a good book is a good book and that's it
